What do you do when the company you work for goes belly up? Today's guest, Thomas Leitke, talks about his experience of working for GEOS, a major operator of eikaiwa (English conversation) schools in Japan. The company filed for bankruptcy in April, leaving Thomas and many other language teachers without work. Thomas also talks about some of the activities he pursues in his free time. In addition, an uguisu (Japanese bush warbler) sings a lovely rendition of "ho-hokekyo". Comments[2]

Hi Dave. Just wanted to say I enjoy your podcast. I started listening last year sometime. It\'s great when you record the natural outdoors sounds. What I remember most about my week in Ikebukuro, Tokyo this year is the loud noises of the big, black crows in the area. I find Japanese culture and History interesting. The women aren\'t too bad looking either. ^_^
I just visited Tokyo and it was very enjoyable. I tried to make it to Matsumoto but could not get there.
For some time I\'ve wished to live in Japan to be immersed in another culture and learn Japanese. I don\'t think I will make it but dreams die hard. I\'m not giving up yet!
Keep up the good work and I will keep listening!
Dennis
Oh Boku wa Shikago, Irinoi kara desu.
